Miramar Garden

Discover the Enchanting Miramar Garden

The camellia, the unmistakable symbol of Opatija, holds a central place in the artistically designed gardens of Hotel Miramar. In spring, this legendary flower, immortalized in literature and history, transforms the entire town into an enchanting palette of pink hues. Introduced to Central Europe more than 200 years ago, the camellia is today the floral emblem of Opatija, emphasizing its timeless charm and refined elegance.
Step into our fairytale hotel garden, a place where nature and art merge in perfect harmony. At its center stands an impressive camellia-shaped fountain, carved from a single block of Sölker marble — a masterpiece by the Viennese artist Prof. Hans Muhr and a lasting monument to this iconic plant. It was precisely this unique ensemble that contributed to the garden being proclaimed the most beautiful garden in Opatija in 2010.
The artistic identity of the garden is further enriched by renowned Opatija artist Yasna Skorup Krneta, whose installation Neptune in the Embrace of the Imperial Miramar Garden lends the space a powerful symbolic and aesthetic signature. Completing the ensemble are the European Gates of Peace, another striking work by Prof. Hans Muhr. Crafted from 28 different types of stone from 28 European countries, these monumental gates symbolize European unity, while the gentle flow of water that connects them further underscores the message of harmony and peace.
Whether you are seeking moments of relaxation, a source of inspiration, or a picturesque seaside retreat, the Miramar Garden offers a unique experience where natural beauty meets artistic expression.
